Day 3 of the Meaningful Challenge

Well I messed up already and didn't get a post done for day 2!! But, I figure if I can at least try and do this as much as possible I'm doing good!! Some days I just am not going to make it happen, to much going on in my life!!

So what was meaningful for me today!! Running into our Pastors Daughter Charity today and her giving me a hug and telling me she loves me!!! It just warmed my heart!! She is such a beautiful person inside and out, and for a girl that is only 29 to take time in Hobby Lobby and go out of her way to tell me she loves me just made my day!! I really did not want to go to Hobby Lobby today, have not felt to good all day.....and was not in the best mood......plus had Joey with me and he REALLY did not want to be there.....so yeah....that turned my day around and put a smile on my face for the rest of the day!! Turned out to be a good day afterall!! :)

Meaningful Challenge

Wow it has been so long since I have posted a blog!! But, I plan on doing it a whole lot more with this challenge........hopefully anyways.....I will try my best!!! So this is what I am going to try and do for the next year....starting today! I got this from my friend Michael Ratcliff, and he is doing it to change his life before he turns 40!! I want to do it just to change my life for the better just because!!

Meaningful Challenge

The challenge:

Find something meaningful in your life, every single day. It’s that easy.

Definition of meaningful to me:

Anything that betters yourself, someone else or the world as a whole.

To further explain, it is anything that you can come away with feeling like you have expanded your mind, your body, your mood, etc. Anything that makes you feel good on a deeper level than you would normally feel.

Let’s say you hold the door open for an elderly woman and she takes the time to stop, thank you and compliment you in a way that shows you she really appreciates the gesture you have made. Or change places. You thank the next person that holds the door open for you in a way that makes them feel special. Those scenarios affected two people as each felt special for that brief moment. Possibly even more people that observed it or were in contact with them throughout the day. It is like the movie “Pay It Forward.” What you give can affect so many others, no matter the significance of the act.

There are no set guidelines for what is or is not meaningful. We have to decide that on our own. Here comes a little twist though which may guide us in what we do or do not find meaningful.

What’s next?

Next step is to let others know what you have done or learned or whatever it was you found meaningful. This may not always be necessary. Using the example above, whichever person you can relate to, the other party was affected and touched right there on the spot. Not a real need to tell others unless you want the feeling to grow beyond it’s current size. Have the “PIF” effect expand beyond it’s normal size.

You would however tell others of your findings if in fact it happened only to you. Say you learned a new word and used it through out the day. Or finished painting a picture that you have been working on for a while. Or went out hiking and collected a full bag of trash on your way out.

This is the challenge I set forth for me and anybody else interested in bettering themselves and the world around them. I now ask for your help in supporting me on this daily adventure and I will as well, cheer and support you on your journey.

So with that said here is my post for today!

Today what is meaningful to me is the laughter of my kids!! All three of them have a way of always making me laugh at something! Brittany with her drama queen attitude lately, Allie in her cute little jokes, and Joey.......well just being himself.....and the cute things he does!! I am so blessed to have 3 children that fill my heart with so much joy!!

Describe to me your favorite lounging clothes: I love my cotton Capri's and a t-shirt in the summer, and in the winter I have flannel pants and a thermal shirt!!

1) What two colors should never, in your opinion, appear together in an outfit or decorating scheme? I think Army green with anything is just a fashion no no!! I guess growing up a Army Brat....i saw that color everyday of my childhood, and just hate it!! LOL
2) What is the strongest profanity you use? I am trying hard not to say it.....and damn is a word i use more than I should....... I have been pretty good about not using profanity!
3) If someone were trying to woo your significant other away from you, what methods would bring them the most success? I really don't think anything would woo him away, so good luck with that.....after 26 years of marriage.....if he has not been wooed away by now...he never will, he's all mine!!

1. What kind of dryer sheets do you use? Bounty

2. How many times a week do you eat out/order in? We eat out Fridays almost every week, and every now and then one day during the weekend. But, that is about it.

3. What did you do the night of your high school graduation? My best friend at the time Judy Dyson, had a party at her house and I went to that and of course that was before the 21 drinking age, so partied pretty hard, and stayed the night there, got home around 3 pm the next day.

4. So Octomom is rumored to have been offered a million bucks to do a porno. Would you do it for a million? That would be a BIG NO!! I don't care how much I would be offered.

5. If your child was born with an extra finger or toe, would you have it surgically removed? I would probably not. If they would want the surgery later on in life, by their choice I would stand behind him/her!

6. What was the last movie you saw? Mall Cop, on Valentines Day, it was really cute and funny.

7. I wanna buy you a dozen roses, what color should they be? That would be RED!! Love the color RED and love RED Roses!!

8. You are walking across the street, you are not quite half way when a speeding car comes... you have to run to get out of its way, which direction do you run? It would depend on if the car is speeding in front of me or behind me, I would go the direction that is going to be the farthest aways from the car!!

9. Tell us about a time when you were invited over somewhere and had the most awful time. Gosh, I have fun where ever I go, I just can't think of an awful time being invited anywhere.

10. You open your front door and there is a box with a puppy in it... what do you do? Oh, gosh I am such a sucker for puppies!! I would have to bring it in, and depending on how much I loved it would keep it, but would first see if it belonged to someone!! Of, course Dan would not like it.......LOL!!

1. It seems like: It's been forever since I have seen my Brother and Sister-in-Law and so looking forward to spending some relaxing time with them the end of March!!

3. If I thought you would spend more time doing more things you want to do I'd be supportive in what ever it is you want to do! ( of course that is directed to my workaholic husband!! lol

4. Making memories is what I think of most when I think of you. (Also directed at my hubby)

5. To me, Valentine's Day means spending time with the one you love, but to me Valentine's Day should be everyday with the one you love, not just a day that you set aside to only give flowers or special love!!

6.Dan gives me strength.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going out to eat with my family, tomorrow my plans include going out to dinner and a movie with out kids with my husband that set up a babysitter for us and Sunday, I want to chill and enjoy the day!

1. You are driving down the road and there is a puddle in the road. A big puddle. Not one that will really wreck your car or anything, but a big puddle. There is no other cars in front of you or behind you - do you drive through the puddle or drive around it? I would drive around it, cause you never know what is in it, and most of the time my car is clean cause I am anal about that, and it would get it dirty!! lol

2. Go to Google Images, type in any word that comes to mind and post the 1st picture you see.

3. A college calls you up and says that you have been selected to take/get any degree that you want on their dollar.... what do you choose? I would take some thing to do with Social Work. I have wanted to be a Social Worker ever since I adopted my kids!! I know it is a hard job, and not easy, but I think I would be good at it!! Maybe some day!

4. Are you blogging on a laptop or desktop? Right now my lap top, cause my desk top has died cause of a nasty virus!! Hope to get a new one soon!

5. Which store, excluding a grocery store, do you shop at most often? Bath & Body Works, when I am out of town, love everything in the store, and get in real trouble when I am there, and in Hobbs America......well...ummmm, I guess Hobby Lobby, cause we really don't have much here.

6. My daughters tried out for the school musical last night. Were you ever in a school play/musical? Which one? Well, not a play type of musical, but was always involved in Chorus and sang in the winter and spring concerts we would put on!! Love to sing!!

7. I read yesterday that a school PTA group wants to try to ban white bread, cakes, brownies or any other "treat" from their lunch menus... plus make kids' lunchboxes brought from home not include any "junk food". Thoughts on that one? This is a great question!!! I have two girls in public school right now, and they have been in 4 different schools, and each one is so different on lunch menus. In Texas they were allowed to purchase an extra snack type of food to go with their meal if they had the money, other wise they got fruit! Then we moved to North West New Mexico where they went to 2 different school and got all kinds of snacks for lunch, from pudding, cake, cookies and ice cream. Then we move to Hobbs, NM and they only get fruit with their lunch, and can not purchase anything extra. I think offering them a more healthy choice at school is good, but I think they are taking things a little to far! Really if you look at the fat intake on white and regular wheat bread there is not that much difference, and what kid is going to eat whole grain wheat bread??? Unless of course they grew up with it!! As, far as not allowing them to take it in their lunch boxes......Get real, that is going a bit far!! I don't see how they can do that, people have the right to eat what they want, and unless there is a cause for a ban on certain foods at school, like for allergy reasons, I don't see how they can do it.......NO I don't agree with that!!

8. How many people can your kitchen table seat? Right now 6, but if we put both leaves in it and put some more chairs around it we can get 10 to 12 easy!!

9. What time is it right now? It is 4:30 pm.

10. Walk out the front door of your house/apartment, turn right, walk 2 blocks. What do you see? I would not be able to walk two full blocks to the right, because our street dead ends at the end of one block and then there are just houses with yards. So the answer would be someones back yard HA HA!!

Saturday 9: Time Has Come Today

1. What time of day do you usually play Saturday 9? It all depends on what time of day that I get on the computer. Most of the time it is in the evenings!!

2. At 9AM on a weekday, what are you doing? On, Monday and Wednesday I am just getting back home from taking Joey to school!! The other 3 days, I am home doing laundry, cleaning, getting Joey breakfast, or getting ready myself.

3. At 9PM on any given night, what would you most like to be doing? Watching TV with Dan, knitting and chilling. Some nights I am in bed by 9.

4. What is your most frequent activity online? Playing around in Facebook, and reading blogs!! Oh, and always looking for that knitting pattern that I just have to have, or yarn I can't live without!

5. Is there one day of the week that seems to fly by? If yes, why? Sunday, always goes by fast! I guess because I don't want the weekend to end, and enjoy being with my family and when your having fun the day just flies.

6. Do you agree that the older you get, the faster time seems to go by? Oh, good grief yes!! I really don't know what happened to 2008, and it is now already in the 2nd month of this year!! I would like time to slow down some so I have more time with my kids and husband :)

7. What is your favorite thing to do with free time? Play around on the computer, knit, read. I'm a mom of three kids though, so don't get much free time!!! But, Joey starts kindergaten next year.......ALL day kindergaten, and I will have 7 hours of free time 5 days a week, until I find a part time job I might want to do! But, it is going to have to be something I enjoy doing!! ( Maybe something to do with knitting, I have wanted for the past few years to open my own shop)

8. How much time do you spend alone? Would you like it to be more? Less? Well, like I said above I am a mom of 3 kids, and time alone is not something I have very much of!!!! I would love more, and in about 6 months I will have a lot more free time!! I am looking forward to it!

9. If you could spend one hour doing something what would it be? Reading and soaking in my spa tub!! I don't get to do that as much as I want to, and really need to take more time to do that!! I clean the thing out all the time, and never get in it!! lol

1. What is one of your favorite blogs to read? I love to read Crafty Carole's http://craftycarole.blogspot.com/ The next one I love to read is my sister-in-laws, Creative Self Belief http://creativeselfbelief.blogspot.com/ because we are trying to get to know each other better, and it is a way for us to read about each other!! Lot's of fun!
Why is it your favorite? Because we have so much in common, we both have 3 younger children, are in our late 40's and we love to sing and knit!!
2. Have you ever been hunting? No I can't say that I have, and don't see it as being something I will anytime in the near future!!
3. Do you live near any active volcano's? No, I don't!! I'm wondering if they are any better to live by, than the tornado alley I live in?? LOL
4. If VH1 came out with a new reality show called Celebrity Anger Management, who would you most like to see on the show? Mike Tyson, and John McEnroe are the only ones I can come up with!! Showing my age too!!!
5. Would you drink horse's milk if offered? Well, I don't like milk, so that would be a no!!
6. Do you buy pickles? If so, what do you do with the juice after all the pickles are gone? Yes, I love little sweet pickles, and dill spears!! I just throw out the juice.
7. Do you have a myspace or Facebook account? Yes, I have both. I like Facebook better than Myspace, I guess because I have more friends on there!!
8. Facial hair on men, yea or nay? Don't mind it either way, love a smooth face, but also like the look of a nicely trimmed goatee!!

10. Have you downloaded Skype and use it? I have no idea what that is, so that would be a no!!
11. Have you ever been stuck by cacti? Well, I live in New Mexico.....so yes, I have and a few times. It stings!!
12. Do you still have packed boxes from your last move you have yet to unpack? If so, how long have they been there? This is so funny, I have about 4 boxes to still go through!! They have been here for 1 year, but the sad thing is these same boxes have not been unpacked since our last move 3 years ago!!! I will get them done!!
13. Ever have a toxic friend you had to break ties with to save your sanity? I have and we did not talk for about 2 years!! But, we are talking now and the best of friends!! I have another one though that is getting that way, and may have to back way for a while!! But, friends are very important, and I really love all my friends and need them as much as they need me!!

What's the most embarrassing song on your iPod (or music collection)? Gosh, I don't think I have any embarrassing songs, have some old songs, from the 70's and 80's!! I guess that could be embarrassing cause it is telling my age a bit! LOL

How much time do you spend each day in your commute? (Or if you don't work outside the house, how much time do you spend in your car or other preferred mode of transportation?) I don't commute to work, but every Mon. and Wed. I take Joey to school, and that takes about 30 mins. round trip! I run errands and on Friday's we go out to lunch. I don't spend much time in my car unless we are going to Lubbock or Midland.

What's your favorite wardrobe item and why? My long terry cloth robe, cause it is so comfy and when it is cold I just love to put it one with my jammies and chill!!

Saturday 9: The First Aprtment

1. Where had you moved from? My Parents house, I had just gotten married!

2. Describe your first apartment: It was on the 4th frickin floor, and it was a killer when we went grocery shopping and when we moved!! But, it was a new apt. and it was one bedroom, all the rooms were very large, and so we had lots of space. It also had a compact washer and dryer in the kitchen which was wonderful! Other than being on the top floor it was a nice apt.

3. How old were you when you had your apartment? I was 21.

4. Did you have roommates? If yes, tell us more. Yes, my husband! Dan! Like I said above we had just gotten married!

5. What was your place of employment then? Rosario's Hairstyling Salon. It was a great job, if I still wanted to do cosmetology, that is where I would work! He was an awesome boss.

6. How were you finances at the time? Well, we were newly married, so money was tight. We got a Montgomery Wards credit card and bought a vacuum cleaner and an Atari game system and stayed home and played games, we could not afford to do anything else.

7. Tell us about a lover who spent a night there. Well, he was my lover every night and still is!

8. Tell us about a band you listen to then. (You can cheat. Look it up.) Oh lordy, um Journey!! Went to one of their concerts and had a blast!

9. How long did you live there and why did you move from there? We lived there one year, we moved because they raised the rent $100 dollars per month and we just could not afford to stay there, but it was good while it lasted!!

1. Enough with the _____. Cold weather, I am so ready for the warm sunny weather to be here!!

2. _____ causes me to be conflicted. The new president, nothing personally against him, I just feel that he is not qualified to handle our Nations mess right now! And, I think that leaves us very vulnerable.

3. I've been craving _____. OK, I have to copy my Sister-in-Law on this one......some good German food!!!

4. _____ makes me laugh. Joey makes me laugh everyday! He is always doing or saying something that makes me laugh out loud!!

5. I wish I could go to _____ next week. New York City, I really am missing my friends there and would love to reconnect with them. Plus I just love that city!! OK, maybe I should wait until it gets a little warmer there!! LOL

6. _____ has been on my mind lately. This is weird for me, but my Mother has been on my mind lately, I guess because her birthday would have been this past Monday, and I am really wanting some information that only she would know about!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to _____, tomorrow my plans include _____ and Sunday, I want to _____! As for the weekend, we are going out to dinner tonight, I don't cook on Friday's most of the time, and tomorrow, Joey has a party to go to, and I have a few things around the house to do with Dan, and on Sunday I want to chill with my hubby and watch football, GO Pittsburgh!!!!! OK, I am really wanting Pittsburgh and the Eagles in the Super Bowl!!

Now for an update about pictures and why I have not posted any! My desktop got a virus and we are trying to work it out, but I am not using it right now and am posting and doing all computer work from my laptop! I don't have any pictures on here so until I get some put on or get the desktop fixed there will be no pictures of anything for a little while! I have some pics that I really want to put up of some things that I have been knitting and some wonderful yarn that I fell in love with and had to purchase!! Oh, the trouble I get into when I start looking around Ravelry, and the yarn that I just want to have!! I really need to stay off that site!! OK, hope ya all have a great weekend!

1. Whats the coldest temps you've experienced? I have been in -18 below once going through a little town called Cuba New Mexico, and it is the coldest place in the winter!!

12. What was the last thing you watched on TV? The rest of Starter Wife that I had DVR'ed for ever!
13. What are your plans for the 4th of July this year? We always go to my In-Laws for the 4th, all the family gets together for that holiday!!
14. Tell us about one absolutely wonderful thing that happened to you as a teenager and every time you think of it, it brings a smile to your face: I graduated from High School, that is the only major thing that was a great time for me!

Do you have a Wii Fit? Yes, and I love it!!
Did you have to search for it, or did you buy it prior to it being the hottest item? Well, I have connections, my wonderful nephew works at a game stop as a manager and he held one for me right after Thanksgiving!! He's the best!! Thanks Adam!!
And this is the most important question I think, do you use it? I use it almost every day!! I love the step aerobics and have worked up to over 1100 steps in 10 mins. I work out on it at least 30 mins. a day or more!! The great thing about it is, you are working out and having fun at the same time!! I love the yoga and strength training too!! I recommend it!!

Saturday 9: Dying to Know

1. What do you believe happens when we die? I believe we go to Heaven, or Hell, I believe we all will go to one or the other. Either eternal life, or eternal hell!!
2. Do you consider yourself religious? I would not say religious per say! I do go to Church and try to live by the New Testament, but do not follow a religious Church.
3. Do you believe in ghosts? I do, but I refer to them as angels. I think there are spirits that come into peoples lives at certain points in our lives for a reason!
4. Do you believe that people live on other planets? I really don't know, but there could be.
5. Have you ever seen something abnormal? I have, I have a picture taken at my parents house a long time ago with an image of a person in it, where there could not be a person. It is just a blurry image of a person.

When she was diagnosed with cancer and was totally paralyzed from the waist down we were told she would never walk again.......well, she did and was a cheerleader for 3 years, with cancer on top of that!!! She is what makes me believe that God exists and that miracles do happen!! And, any body that knew Kayleigh well, knew she was a walking miracle!!!

If you were at a friend’s house for a holiday dinner and you found a dead cockroach in your salad, what would you do? Well, I would think that none of my friends would have a cockroach problem, but ya never know what comes in food these days, so I would just not eat the salad, and politely tell her alone what I found in the salad!! But, hey in some country's that is a delicacy!! lol

If you could put anyone you know on Prozac, who would you choose? My son Joey!!! He goes from the time he gets up, till his head hits the pillow, and I wish I could have half his energy!!

How do you feel about public displays of affection? As long as it is in good taste, and no one is offended, I don't have a problems with it. But, one time at a mall my husband and I saw these two young kids, no more than 15 or 16, literally doing it in the booth at the food court!! Saturday 9: Holiday Cheer
1. Does the holiday season stress you out? If yes, how do you cope? It can sometimes, I try to get things done early, and have been able to do that this year!! I enjoy it so much more when I'm not stressed. I told the kids today, now that they are out of school for the holidays, NO STRESS, or your going to spend it in your rooms reading!!! lol
2. Are you ever so busy in December that you have to force yourself to chill? Some times, I had a really busy week last week, but this week is good and just doing the things that I want to do!
3. Do you sleep well at this time of year? I never sleep great, so it does not make any difference.
4. Have you ever taken a sleigh ride? If yes, tell us about it. Yes, Kayleigh and I took one in Central Park while we were in NYC!!! Oh how I miss that place this time of year!! Nothing like New York City during Christmas!!!
5. Do you live close to the parts of your family you spend the holidays with? We are closer to my husbands family, but I would like to be close to my brother so that we could get together over the holidays!!
6. What will you have for Christmas dinner? Turkey and all the fixin's!! I'm cooking!!

Friday Fun: Holiday Edition

1. Did you do the so fun Black Friday shopping? Did you get any really good deals? Yes I did, I got up at 3:30 am with my MIL and we got some really great deals. The best deal was a pair of Croc Lighting McQueen Shoes/Slippers for Joey that were regularly $20 and I got them for $4.99!! Got some great deals at Kohl's too!! ( But today, I got a great deal for me!! lol a pair of black boots that were reg. $70.00 for $20.00!!! woo hoo for me!!)
2. Does your family do gifts for everyone or do you draw names? We draw names on my husbands side, cause with 6 kids and all the spouses we would go broke!!! We all buy for the kids though........cause isn't that what it's all about??
3. About how many people do you have to gift this year? Oh man, to many to mention here.......a lot!! But, all done!!
4. How about that big holiday meal? That can get pricey so how do you save some money and still put on a great meal? I am cooking the holiday meal this year, and love doing it! I save by buying things early and saving the small stuff for last. I also buy a lot of things in bulk from Sam's Club, and that helps. If everyone shows up we should have a small crowd, around 8!
5. What are your top 5 tips for saving money this year on gifts? 1.) Shop early 2.) Catch sales 3.) Plan what you are going to buy ahead of time! 4.) Shop on Black Friday, you really can get some good deals!! 5.) Remember that you don't have to give to every person you know, and home made gifts are great too!!

Have you ever returned an item to a store for a refund after having used it? I can't say that I have done this, not that I remember. I do know people that have.....lol!!

You are going out for the evening. If your partner objects to what you are wearing, would you change your clothing? Well, this is an easy answer, Dan never objects to anything I am wearing!! I always have makeup on and my hair done and always look nice when I leave the house, so I guess he just assumes that I will be dressed right!! lol

What item that you don’t currently possess would you most like to have in your home? I would love a new dinning room set. I love the new tables and chairs where they sit up higher off the ground. Just something more updated and not so country looking like I have now! That will be soon though. We have a new Ashley Furniture store opening soon!!!

Now for some happenings today....... Joey had his Christmas program at his school today, and was just the cutie!! I just loved the reindeer antlers and their red noses!! Here is a pic of the little party after the program.

I use to do this all the time, and then only the things that I don't like to shrink in the dryer, but my new house does not have a clothes line....so all the stuff that I don't put in the dryer gets hung up on a bar in the laundry room. Miss sheets out on the line!!!

4. Loss of vision, ability to speak or hearing - which do you choose? (you have to choose one....): I would say speak, because you can still communicate and I would still want to hear things and see things! But, some days the lack of hearing with 3 kids could be a good thing too!! lol

5. On a scale from 1 - 10, how are your computer skills? around a 5, there is a lot I need to learn yet!

6. Do you volunteer or donate to anything around the holidays? We always give to the NYC Ronald McDonald House this time of year

What is the most expensive meal you've ever eaten? It was at this fancy restaurant that Dan and I went to for I think our 15 wedding anniversary, I can't remember the name of the place ( it went out of business...wonder why??) .......but, it cost like $150.00, and we got like nothing on our plate!! We both ordered Fillet Mignon and we each got 2 that were about the size of a golf ball, and garlic potato's, and a salad, and a glass of wine!! That's it! LOL

What is the fastest speed you've ever traveled in a car? Well.....I would guess back in the day, like 110!!! I'm still a lead foot, but getting better. Hard to drive slow when you live where there is nothing for miles and miles, and ya just want to get to something......lol!

What is the highest building you've ever been to the top floor of? Top of the Empire State Building!

Just wanted to share a strange thing that happened at our house today!! We had winds come out of no where that gusted up to over 80 miles per hour, and it just took up our trampoline and blew it right over our cinder block 6ft. fence and it headed east like it was a tumble weed, and went through the 3 empty lots east of us and up and over the cinder block fence at the house at the end of our street, and into his back yard and crashed!!!! Nothing but the trampoline was hurt thank goodness!! But, the trampoline was only about 4 months old and had not even been used that much, and now it is in pieces from here to our neighbors house. I went down to his house to make sure nothing happened, and he said.....NO!! Who would have ever thought that would happen?? Guess the kids will be getting a new trampoline for Christmas......and this time anchor it in the ground somehow!! And, we are suppose to get snow tomorrow......ugh!!! And, I was hoping it was going to be a good week!!

2. Do you fall asleep easily? No, I have always had a hard time falling asleep. I solve all the worlds problems at that time.......LOL!

Manic Monday #141

What was the first thing you thought when you looked at yourself in the mirror today? Wow, my hair is a mess, must have tossed and turned all night.

Do you have a recurring nightmare? Well I would not call it a nightmare, but a bad recurring dream, so yes I do!

If so, explain: It is always the same thing, I am a senior in high school, and I can't find my locker, and get frantic cause I'm going to be late for class, and then I find the locker, and don't know the combination to the lock. I never get past that point.........just always ends with me frantically trying to figure out the combination to the lock so I can get to class!!! I know weird!! LOL

List three foods you can’t stand: Liver, Brussel Sprouts, and any kinda hard or gummy candy! Except for Candy Canes, and I don't eat them, just let them melt in my hot chocolate!!! Yummy!!

Here are some pictures from Halloween. The girls had to decorate pumpkins for school. They both got 3rd place and were so proud of their pumpkins! Also, here are some pics of them dressed up for Halloween. We went to our church for some trick or treating, they had a thing going called the Sweet Spot, and gave away 1 pound of candy to every kids that went. They also had hotdogs and sodas for everyone too! It was a great turn out! Then we took them around our neighborhood, and they got plenty of candy!! Now to just stay out of it......LOL

Friday Fill-Ins for Nov. 20th 2008

1. The last band I saw live was: Oh my, like forever ago, I think like May 2000 and it was Clay Walker at a American Cancer event hosted in memory of Kayleigh, was a great night!
2. What I look forward to most on Thanksgiving is: Is spending time with family and going shopping with my Mother In Law and Sister's In Laws the day after!! We get up at like 3 in the morning and hit the stores, and shop till we can't stand it any more and go home and Rob, Dan's brother will have home made Turkey Enchiladas ready to eat!! We have so much fun doing this!!! I have not been able to do this for quite a few years, and missed it while we were in Farmington!
3. My Christmas/holiday shopping is: Almost done, I am trying to get better at getting it done early as I have some gifts that have to go to people that don't live near me, and we will be getting together with them over Thanksgiving, so will have that all done and delivered then!!
4. Thoughts of decorating my house for Christmas fill my head.
5. I wish I could wear: Less clothes right now, as I hate the cold weather and having to bundle up, and I hate socks and shoes!! lol
6. Bagpipes: Reminds me of my Dad.....he hated them, and I think the music from them is just awesome, I love them!!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to: going out to eat and going shopping with Allie for a birthday present she needs for a party she is going to tomorrow, tomorrow my plans include: driving to Lubbock with Joey and Brittany, dropping them at my Mother In Laws, and going to get my hair done WooT!! and doing a little shopping, and Sunday, I want to: spend the day in bed.....lol, but will get up and go to early church at 8:45am and then I have a baby shower to go to for Tiffany across the street!! Then coming home and chilling with the family and watching some football!!

I just had to take a picture of my hibiscus with the double blooms in one bud!! I have never seen this before and thought it was really cool!! Like twins..........lol! This is one of my favorite ones, and I love the colors of the blooms on this plant. Not the best picture, but you can still see the double bloom in one bud. Going to Lubbock for a couple of days over the Labor Day weekend, so won't be posting for a few days. Will take some pictures of the house and a few of family in Lubbock to post for next week! Mid May Cloth

Here is the Mid May KAL Cloth. This one was a challenge for me as I had to pay attention to what I was doing. There was a lot to the pattern, and some new stitches that I have not done or put together before. This one is called "Every Day Any Day" and again is designed by Sue Schaefer. It is a pretty cloth and one that I plan on making more of. I saw one that someone else made in the striping yarn and it was really pretty, so think I will get some of that for the next one! 10 cloths done and 14 more to go!!

We had to landscape our yard when we bought the house, so we bought all kinds of plants and one of my favorites is the Hibiscus. Well, we bought a lot of plants so a few were put in pots and they are on my front porch. This one was so full of blooms one day that I just had to get a picture of it. I think it had like 8 to 10 blooms on it. Normally they only have about 3, so was happy to see so many on this one. The other one is a new kind of Hibiscus and the flowers are so big, I plan on getting a few more of these next year!

Wow it has been forever since I have posted a blog. Where does the time go??? Soooo much has been going on over the summer, mostly working in our yard trying to get that done, and a much needed surgery and now that that is all done, and kids are in school, maybe I can get this updated and spend more time blogging!!!! Well here is the Mid-April cloth. It is really a pretty one and my Sister-in-law Joy is the proud owner of it! The name for this one is "Dots within Strips" and was designed by one of my favorite people Sue Schaefer!! I really liked the colors that were chosen for this one too!! I am hoping that in the next week or two to get the rest of the pictures up of the cloth's that are done and start adding some more things about me and my family!! I would never have thought of using bobbles for flowers, that was a great idea. The bobbles were easy for me, I have done them before. I am finally all caught up on the challenge and have all my cloths on my blog!!! :) I can't wait for the April Mid-Month cloth to start. Always wanting something new to start. I am still moving along on the baby blanket. I should have it all done in the next few days. I am going to Florida for a little chill time with my husband, so want to get it done and start the scarf that I have been wanting to do, and plan on taking that with me..........so off to work on the baby blanket. Here is the March mid-month dishcloth KAL. It is a fun one. I have made a few of these in the past. They are Illusion cloths. This one is of a Bunny for Easter. In the first picture you can only see the blue and white stripes, but in the second picture taken at more of a horizonal level, you can see the picture. These are always a lot of fun. Thanks Cheryl for the pattern!! Ok that is 6 cloths down and 18 more to go. I am having so much fun with this challenge!! Here are some pictures of some other things that I have been working on. The baby blanket is about 3/4 of the way done. The pattern is from a dishcloth pattern that I got from Sue Shaefer's Harvest Moon Designs. It is called Easter Grass and instead of casting on 40 I cast on 160. I am using size 10 1/2 needles and Bernat Softee Baby yarn in Light Purple. It is really turning out pretty, I want to crochet a white border around it to finish it up. I promised my DH that I would not cast on anything else except KAL's until I get this blanket done!!! Ugh am I crazy?? So I am knitting like a crazy woman trying to get it done!! ( I have to cast on my first pair of socks!!! ) Also, I am knitting little baby wash cloths to go along with the blanket as a gift to a friend that is having a baby! Well off to work on the baby blanket......my sock yarn is just sitting here waiting to be cast on!!! lol

It is "Harvest Moon Designs" and she has wonderful patterns for sale, and some free ones also. Thank you Sue for this wonderful pattern for us all to knit this month, I love it. I was not to thrilled with the colors we were to use......"Verde Green & Mauve" but love the pattern. I posted 2 pictures of the cloth 1 up close so you could see the little windows in the pattern, and the other of the full cloth. I will make this one again with different colors. Maybe a solid and a ombre!! I am so glad this is a short month, because that means the next KAL starts on Saturday!!!! I am ready to start!! 4 down and 20 to go........I am keeping up with this challenge!!

Feb. Dishcloth KAL

Here is my dishcloth for the beginning Feb. It is a picture of a Valentine Candy Box. I did it in Peaches and Cream "Rose Pink" I think it turned out really pretty. My girls really like this one. I think they would swipe it if I had not told them that I needed to take a picture of it first. I don't think they know I finally did!!!!!!!!!! So it is neatly tucked away in my dishcloth drawer.

So now I have 3 done and 3 posted and 21 more to go!! I am also working on some baby cloths and a baby blanket that I will post pics of later. I also go some sock yarn that I ordered the other day, and can't wait to cast on for my first pair of socks :)

Feb. Mid Month Dishcloth

Here is the Jan Mid Month Dishcloth KAL that we did. It is really pretty and is a pattern that I will use again!! I knitted it with Peaches and Cream "Daisy Ombre" The pattern is called " Diamond on Lace". I am going to give this one to my Mother in Law for her new kitchen. They just bought a 100 year old farm house in Texas, and re-did the whole inside of it, so thought it might go with her kitchen and yellow is her favorite color. 2 down and 22 more to go!! Other than not getting them on my blog until now, I did get them done on time, and as they were posted!!

Football KAL Cloth

Well I finally got my pictures taken so that I can post them here. This is a picture of the first cloth that we were to do in Jan. It is a picture of a football........and I knitted it while watching football......lol!! I knit it up with Peaches & Cream "Ecru". We were to use a tan or brown, but I had not ordered the pre-packs that Flo made up for us, so used what I had out of my stash!! I think it turned out pretty good. One down and 23 more to go!!!!!!!!!

New Blog, New Year!!

Well I finally did it, I created a blog. Now I can post pictures of my finished KAL's and everyone can see that I am keeping up with the challenge that I signed up for!! I also want to post things that I want to do this year.......like learn to knit socks, and get other knitted project done!
Hope to keep up with this and have fun with it also.
